School Costume Dry Cleaning: Choir, Dance, Band and Prefect Attire
Schools send us whole sets at a time: choir dresses, dance costumes, band uniforms and prefect blazers. We collect from the school, dry clean or launder each piece by the method its fabric takes, press it, and return the set counted and on hangers. Send us a list and we quote before any work starts.
What schools send us
Most of it is performance and uniform wardrobe: drama costumes, choir dresses and graduation gowns, Chinese, Malay and Indian dance costumes, band uniforms and jackets, Chinese orchestra changshan and cheongsam, prefect and student council blazers. It arrives either straight after a performance or competition, or out of a store room where it has sat since the last one.
The dresses above are a choir set: sequinned bodice, organza sleeves, satin skirt. We clean each piece by the method its fabric takes and finish by hand, since a press flattens sequins and glazes organza.
Everything comes back clean and pressed
After a performance, costumes carry the ordinary things: makeup around the neckline, hairspray, perspiration in the lining, floor dust on the hem. All of it comes out in a normal clean, as long as that happens before the set goes back into the store room, and not a year later when someone opens the box for the next concert.
Costumes that have already sat a year in storage come back smelling clean rather than of the cupboard. Either way we return the set pressed, on hangers and covered, sorted so it goes straight back onto the rack.
How it works for the teacher in charge
One contact, and nobody has to move sixty garments themselves. Send us a list of what needs cleaning and we quote on it. We collect from the school and deliver back to it. We count the pieces in against your list and tag them to the group, then count them back against the same list and bag them by size, so they can be issued without sorting.
Turnaround
Standard turnaround is five working days, the same as every other service we run. Tell us the performance or competition date when you ask for the quote. If it falls inside five working days we will say so before you commit. We work collection and delivery around the school's timetable.
Quotes and MOE e-invoicing
To quote we need the garment types, the count of each, and the date you need them back. Photographs help if there is a stain or damage you already know about. We quote for the whole job before any work starts, so asking for a price commits you to nothing.
We offer MOE e-invoicing, either one invoice per job or one per term for a standing arrangement.
The honest note
Older costume stock shows its age. Sequins and trim glued rather than sewn can shed a few pieces in any clean, and staining that has sat in a garment for a year does not always come out completely. We look through the set when it comes in and tell you which pieces are the problem before we start, not after. If a piece is better replaced than cleaned, we will say so.
